In closing comments during our exchange, they both asked for my pricing of these simple caskets to them, at wholesale, of course.

I told them that was not in the plan, at the moment.

I love it.

Take back the word, " home" from the funeral industry

From now on, when I read a statement or press release about the funeral services industry (for instance the company Service Corporation International, SCI) and it talks about "funeral homes" ... I will post a comment on that feed.

The funeral industry has high-jacked the word, HOME. Going into a "funeral home" is nothing like a home, a house or a building where someone lives... A funeral facility is space dedicated to gathering people to say goodbye to a loved person. That's it, period. It has very little "homeness". It can't.

The owners of the facility are set up to handle many families on a daily / weekly basis. It is a facility to do just that.

Please take a moment next time you are inside a funeral service facilty and tell me if you feel at home.

Presentation about consumer's funeral rights by Last Things

Here's a post on FaceBook by the group that runs "Last Things" a consumer advocacy group.
